Since the beginning of Russia’s war of aggression, the EU has created a dense network of financial and economic
sanctions. In practice, these are often interpreted too broadly, leading to the blocking of legitimate transactions,
services, or releases – particularly in the correspondent banking sector. Some of these reac
tions raise questions regarding their compatibility with principles of Union law.
